Tehran has claimed it has achieved a great victory and forced Washington to accept its 10-point plan<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/strong>US President Donald Trump has suspended his\u00a0looming attack on Iran\u2019s energy infrastructure, announcing a two-week ceasefire to negotiate a long-term peace agreement based on a \u201cworkable\u201d<\/em>\u00a010-point proposal from Tehran.<\/p>\n

Just hours after warning that \u201ca whole civilization will die tonight\u201d<\/em> if Iran refused to open the Strait of Hormuz, Trump reversed course following a direct appeal from Pakistani negotiators.<\/p>\n

\u201cBased on conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir of Pakistan, and wherein they requested that I hold off the destructive force being sent tonight to Iran, and subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks,\u201d<\/em> Trump posted on his social media platform.<\/p>\n

Trump\u00a0described the move as a \u201cdouble sided CEASEFIRE,\u201d<\/em> adding that the US has \u201calready met and exceeded all Military objectives.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The US president said Iran\u2019s 10-point proposal offers a \u201cworkable basis on which to negotiate,\u201d<\/em> with most points of past contention already agreed upon.<\/p>\n

Trump warned, however, that the Iranian\u00a0plan is not good enough\u00a0in its current form, and that he would order devastating new airstrikes if no final deal is reached by the new deadline.<\/p>\n

Iran\u2019s Supreme National Security Council has announced that negotiations with the United States will begin on Friday, April 10, in Islamabad, allocating a two\u2011week period that may be extended by mutual agreement.<\/p>\n

The Council declared a\u00a0\u201chistoric and crushing defeat\u201d<\/em>\u00a0for the US, claiming Washington has been forced to accept Tehran\u2019s 10\u2011point plan as the basis for talks.<\/p>\n

The plan allegedly includes US commitments to non\u2011aggression, Iran\u2019s continued control over the Strait of Hormuz, acceptance of uranium enrichment, the lifting of all sanctions, termination of UN Security Council and IAEA resolutions, the payment of war reparations, withdrawal of US combat forces from the region, as well as a halt to the war on all fronts, including against the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon.<\/p>\n

The Council stressed that national unity must be preserved and that these negotiations are\u00a0\u201can extension of the battlefield.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n

It warned that if the enemy\u2019s \u201c<\/em>surrender\u201d<\/em><\/em>\u00a0on the battlefield does not translate into a political achievement,\u00a0\u201cwe will fight side by side on the battlefield until all the demands of the Iranian nation are met.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
